Michael Young appointed to STEM advisory board

Michael Young has been appointed by Governor Kim Reynolds to the STEM Advisory Board for the North Central Region of Iowa. The committee will provide oversight for the STEM regional network to provide broader access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics educational opportunities and promote STEM economic development within and across regions.

Beth Bjorkman received SMART fellowship through the Department of Defense

Beth Bjorkman, graduate student in mathematics, received a SMART (Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation) fellowship through the Department of Defense. Through the fellowship she will work with the program for two years after graduation. Bjorkman researches combinatorial matrix theory, the intersection of graph theory and linear algebra.
